The Tree of Life is approximately 400 years old, and is located 2 km away from Jebel Dukhan, in the southern region of Bahrain. It is visited by around 50,000 tourists a year and is the only major tree in the area. It sits on a 7.6 metre sandy tell, that formed on top of a 500 year old fortress. Archaeologists have discovered peices of ancient pottery that could date back to the Dilmun civilisation in the vicinity of the tree.
